In an attempt to recycle a large household item for parts because they are very hard to get hold of, I put it on ebay and it sold for 99p - great.

Nice people arrive and remove said item and in the process of reversing their vehicle remove 5 tiles, the guttering and cement from my garage!

They were very apologetic, have given me their card etc to send repair bill to - will I ever get anything? I contemplated not letting them leave until we had been to a cash point or something!

My good idea looks like it might cost several hundred pounds!!!

What can I do? Any thoughts?!

Did you take a picture when it happened with their vehicle in situ?
You could try getting a quote for the work and presenting it to them, but I'm not quite sure what you'd do if they refute it.

Did you get their number plate?

They sound like honest folk who made a mistake.

Not letting them leave until they had been to a cash point would have made you look like a twat. You don't know how much it will cost to repair yet, and tbh, this is what insurance is for. (Yours and theirs).

Keep in touch with them, and send them the bill, as they have requested, like any normal person would do.
