eBay

1 week since I paid and no contact from seller

Hi,

I won an auction last week and paid immediately on Thursday (1 week ago). I attached a note with payment saying that I know this is a busy time but I would really appreciate quick delivery (the postage stated courier delivery). I had no reply and no acknowledgement of payment etc.

So yesterday I messaged to ask if they had received payment ok, and if a courier had been arranged (on listing it stated 2 days for dispatch) and again no reply.

I really need the item this week, but it doesnt look like I will get it any time soon.

Also, this was a £50 item so not talking a few quid here.

Can I ask ebay to cancel the sale? what do you think?

yes you can file a not received claim with ebay - or if it says it is too soon with them go to paypal.co.uk and file a not received claim there.

Thanks fergoose.

Do you think it's reasonable to do so?

It just seems strange that Ive had no reply, and I am desperate for the item as it's to replace a broken one :-(

Can you find a phone number for them on Ebay? Sometimes it's there if you go thru the Contact Seller details.

Would be reasonable of you to raise a case but since you do want the item, might be worthwhile to check for a phone number.

thanks for the advice.

Never thought of that, but not sure I would dare ring (I'm a wimp!)

It's £50,
you want it,
they risk losing sale and
a Neg in Feedback if they don't complete the sale.

I'm a terrible wimp, too, but you could not have firmer grounds for pursuing this. Also, it might speed things up with Ebay cancelling transaction if you can say you rang but no joy.

One time I didn't get any emails for a week because of a server setting I hadn't noticed that was wrong, so don't rely on only email if you can help it.

i would contact them saying if you dont get it sorted or get a reply by the end of the day, then you will be contacting ebay/paypal and getting your money back

Thanks for all the help.

I couldnt find a phone number and still no response from seller. I have opened a case with paypal, which apparently gives the seller 10 days to respond.

I am a bit cross because now I don't dare buy another one, in case I dont get my refund, but I really need it this week! Makes me wish I'd just paid full price at a shop :-(

escalate in Paypal now and don't sign for any parcels which may arrive in the meantime. You will get your refund.

Thanks fergoose, that makes me feel better.

Do you have any idea how long it will take?

I think I will just order another one, goodness knows what's happened to my seller!

once escalated paypal should refund you in a few days to a week I think

Just make sure you don't sign for anything from your rubbish seller in the meantime otherwise you won't get your refund

Only time I started a case I was able to escalate it after 4 days & then there was an instant refund after that.

oh my!!!!

I have escalated the case with paypal, and messaged the seller to say that I have done this and would just like to cancel the transaction as no communication so far.
They have still not replied to any messages or responded to the paypal case.

But, I have just had a message from ebay (the automatic kind) to say that the item has been disptached??????

ok - so do not sign for it if it arrives. Is it a large item, would you know what it is if postie/courier arrives with it? If so and you don't want it just refuse to sign for it and they will take it back to the sender.

well, I would still want it if it cme tomorrow, as it would be quicker than waiting for another one on order.

But I don't know if that will be a hassle?

I really don't understand what's going on?

no matter what happens i hope you'll leave a negative review with a brief description.

sounds like the seller is taking the piss tbh

If it arrives tomorrow you can accept the delivery and then cancel the PayPal dispute.
No point refusing it if you need it.

that is if the seller has actually sent it

Good point Fergoose, I have my doubts!

What a very odd situation, I have no idea why anyone would list an item and then behave like this!

Ok, So the item still hasn't arrived!!!! And still no responses to any of my messages.

I opened a case on 3rd January- when can I expect something to happen?

it says the seller has until the 13th to respond, which is today, and no response, but it doesn't say what will then happen?

Gutted about this as still have no item or money :-(

ok - you should be able to escalate today. What time did you open the dispute?

Report
suzym1984 · 13/01/2013 18:57

I can't remember Fergoose.

When I click on the dispute in paypal there is no option to escalate, just cancel claim or change reason for claim?
