Not sure what feedback to leave a seller!

Wondering if you can advise!
I have just collected an item I won, paid cash as arranged with seller. Communication all great etc.
Item was described as in 'excellent condition' and there was one picture which showed the top of the item.

When I collected I could see it was used, but in working condition. It is a large aerobic step.

Once in the car I could smell a musty smell whilst driving. Thought nothing of it as my car certainly isn't the cleanest right now! But when I got home the underneath of the item is filthy dirty, like it has been sat in the mud in the garden.

I know now that I should have checked it better, and to be fair it is in working condition. Ie, I can give it a deep clean etc. I always feel awkward when collecting items and do a quick check and scarper!

But when I sell items (normally clothes to be fair), they are all freshly washed, ironed etc before packing. The fitness item is plastic and I just feel it should have at least had a wipe down of some sorts before selling.
I have never left negative feedback and don't want to annoy the guy but equally I now have to clean up an item that is an indoor item but has clearly been left outside.

He hasn't left me any feedback yet.

Any thoughts? He has mostly positive feedback, one neutral about an item not being as described.

Thanks

Would you buy something from him again? I think that's the guiding principle.

No I wouldn't but not because he is dodgy etc but just because I now think his things are dirty! Which sounds terrible I know...

I would either leave neutral feedback saying it was dirty, or not leave any at all and avoid any confrontation.
What is his feedback like?

His feedback is mostly positive, one neutral from a buyer saying item not as described. He seems to be more of a buyer than a seller.

I buy lots on ebay and always feedback truthfully (and as kindly) as I can. In your shoes I'd give excellent ratings where due, and a not so good one for 'item as described' with a simple explanation - something like item in working condition but dirtier/older than seller's description and photograph led me to believe.

How much did you pay?
If you got in touch to say how dirty it was underneath he might offer a partial refund & you might feel better about leaving no flack or indeed thinking you would after all do business with him again.
I keep thinking it doesn't sound difficult to clean, you don't seem unhappy with any other aspect of the transaction, so a Full Neg seems a bit harsh.

I would contact the seller first and see what they say

But if bad response I would prob leave a neg - and in future check items properly before collecting them.
