Sold PS2 with spare controller -buyer says one controller not working? What do I do?

I sold a PS2 with a spare controller, they were all in the original packaging and were never heavily used. The buyer says that they have arrived and the PS2 is in 'immaculate condition' but the black controller doesn't work properly.
I don't sell that much on Ebay and I have never had anything not work before and so I am not sure what to do now. Do I ask them to explain what is wrong with it and then ask them to return it or give them a discount ?

It's up to you. If you'd rather not see it again then you could refund the amount that a replacement controller costs. That would be reasonable.

If you think buyer is trying it on, then you could insist that they return at their own postage cost (or at yours, and keep in mind they may pack it badly & it could get damaged in transit which leaves you in a Limbo situation) and then refund once you verify it's really the PS2 you sent them and that it really is faulty.

You can see why I tend to refund, at least partially.
