Buyer is asking to return item as it doesn't fit.... a month after purchasing!

I always say I'm happy to accept returns if items don't fit... I sold a pair of shoes over a month ago now and the buyer has just contacted me to say that one of the shoes doesn't fit and could she return them to me - this is after giving positive feedback saying she was very happy with them. Problem is I've already spent the money she paid for them as it was part of my Christmas present fund. I'm fairly sure a shop wouldn't return an item after 28 days... I'm far too much of a pleaser and don't want to upset her, but I also would have to scrabble together to find the money to refund her which isn't particularly fair on me.

i wouldn't refund. she could have been wearing them for the last month and now decided she's skint for christmas. most shops don't refund after a month, it's exchange or credit note.

and make sure you change your policies to state that you will refund, but only if it's within a specific time frame.

Nipers... I can't exchange really as I don't have any more, and I would only refund on receipt of the shoes back in the same condition i sent them in.

I will change my refund policy... you live and learn!

Don't refund now - she probably got them for a party / Christening etc, the occasion has now gone so she no longer needs the shoes.

She gave positive feedback, so presimably they fitted a month ago, so you have no need to refund.

the buyer has 45 days after purchase to open a not as described dispute with ebay but will have to return them to you tracked for a refund

i agree - they probably bought them for an occasion which has now taken place

Fergoose, she isn't saying they're not as described. she was actually very nice in the message to me. I would only ever issue a refund on receipt of the returned item in original condition. If she'd worn them to an occasion I would be able to tell as they were completely unworn and the soles were unmarked.

The listing has gone from my ebay page too so I can't even relist them without having to write out the whole thing again <lazy>

yes but she could open a case with ebay and tell them they are not as described couldn't she
