Another buyer claiming an item is stained

A 99p jumper. I checked it over and it seemed clean and unstained but now have buyer saying it has a huge stain, she got it yesterday, she's washed it 3 times and stain won't come out.

Have sent a message saying I'll issue her a refund if she sends a close up photo of stain- obviously not worth my while paying return postage. I hope she's not mad like my last buyer who claimed stains.

Either I have very low standards or I'm getting bad buyers :( I wouldn't sell it if I wouldn't be happy to buy it

Shock not the peppa pig t-shirt?

ontheedge Bloody hell! Surely your photos on the listing show that there are no stains? I always do a general long shot of the front, then close-up front and back, and a folded-up one showing the cuffs and hem (and label if possible).

That way I know I could maybe miss a tiny spot, but not an actual 'stain'.

And the buyer shouldn't have 'washed it three times'. That in itself sounds a bit suspect to me.

Thankfully not its a jumper this time. Beginning to worry I've got an eye sight problem or something because i really do check very carefully - ESPECIALLY since the peppa pig top episode Grin

Are we sure this bidder is not related to crazy lady of last week??

I just responded saying that the parcel had still not been delivered and she should seek compensation from the royal mail- no response to that yet

Well she has sent a photo jumper and there is indeed a stain. I was sure there wasn't and find it very very strange I didn't notice it (huge green felt tip mark right in middle of a a light pink jumper and I cant see it on my photos Confused !!) but there is no point arguing so I've just refunded. For 99p plus postage my life is too short to get into another stupid dispute

another one for blocked bidder list. Still I've only had 2 bad buyers and at least they've been low value things

Do you think she possibly tried it, didn't like it/it didn't fit and she put the pen on it herself?

Report
ontheedgeofwhatever · 19/11/2012 18:13

its possible - anythings possible. I could even have missed it though I don't think so because its not in photos

Ah well. Lets hope the buyer of the £35 parcel I sent off this morning is happier than she is -that would hurt

did you package it up, and then write the address on the package - this happened to me once, received a jacket covered in ink stains, turned out the marker have leached through the paper packaging and stained the jacket, you could even make out the letters in places

Fergoose it never crossed my mind but you may be on to something. Thinking about it I DID use a green marker pen to address it (dd having stolen my black one for some purpose of her own). It was a grey plastic bag type thing so not sure how it seeped through but I really hope that's the explanation. I'd hate to think someone was so desperate they'd run some kind of scam over a 99p top :(

Do you think the buyer would mind if I asked them if they still have packaging and if they'd have a look to see if it had seeped through - they actually seem quite pleasant just rightly annoyed anyone seems pleasant after peppa pig top lady

yes - well it is worth an ask at least. It would solve the mystery after all.

Yes,I'd ask.At least then she will know that you didn't purposely sell a stained jumper and you'll have your mind put at rest.

I've just had a message - its exactly what happened. Very pleased to have an explanation and wont be using green marker again. I've used black loads of times without a problem. Buyer is being very nice about it too.

Thank you Fergoose glad to have the mystery solved :)

happy to help - write your envelope before putting item inside, and even put the item in a carrier bag first maybe - another layer of protection isn't it :)

Poor old you, ontheedgeofwhatever! That thread made me laugh, though, when the explanation emerged. Yikes. Who'd have thought it.
