my sister sells regularly (not business seller) - just has 4 young children so always clearing out clothes and toys so I think she has months where she sells a lot and then a few months where not selling. Anyway - I think in August/September she sold a lot of outgrown winter clothing she sold but then 2 of her children were unwell one after the other and she was delayed in posting. She said she emailed all buyers to explain and issued partial refunds to some. She posted them the first day she could (is a single parent so struggled to get help - doesnt live same part of country as me - otherwise i would have helped her out).

She was due to have a pre-christmas clearout to get some extra cash for christmas but has received an email from ebay to say she is below their standards and so selling has been restricted indefinitely. She said the email has a very final tone - although they are happy to let her buy on ebay Hmm

She has spoken to ebay and they just said that there is no chance of change as her scores are below standard. Does anybody have any experience of this? I really feel for her as her husband left at the beginning of the year and she has managed so well and this has really upset her. She works part-time and budgets and I know that having regular ebay sales really helps her along. Any advice would be appreciated. She said she looked on an ebay forum but all people seemed to be business sellers or selling fakes - doesnt apply to her - i said much friendlier on here so would ask for her? thanks

did she have bad feedback and low stars - if so it may be worth asking those buyers if they would consider amending that feedback and stars now that they have received their items.

And ebay forums are excellent - certainly aren't all business sellers or those selling fakes in my experience. They are very knowledgeable so are far better equipped to advise.

Someone else on MN had similar problems, they had to make themselves into a business seller (higher fees, I guess) to keep listing.

Sorry for your sis. NCT NN sales? Indoor carboots? MN? Amazon seller?

Can your sister open a new account? She'll be on zero but once she gets to 20 or is she should get her limit raised to 100 again.

Can she not just start again with a new account?

Sorry, probably not much help. I would try ebay again though, they are crap and totally useless when it comes to offering any actual help with anything so she might get somewhere if she perseveres.

Totally sympathise. Had a payment that wouldn't go through paypal recently. Turned out that a virus had altered my email address so it couldn't accept the payment. Didn't find that out till I rang and complained. They couldn't notify me of a problem, oh no. They're as bad as each other, those two.

Basically they resist duct the volume of items and/or volume of items until her scores are improved. She can't open a new one as they have even worse restrictions on them.

She could try asking anyone who hasn't left feedback to do so but could end up with worse scores.

The only way to fix it is to get some more things on and make she gets top scores (or use someone else's account)

Oh and it's worth trying local sections of mumsnet, net mums and even gumtree in the meantime. As well as local nct etc sales.

thanks for all advice. I take point about ebay forum members being knowledgable but I think she felt a bit overwhelmed as all seemed "too knowledgable" (dont think that spelling is correct Blush

She doesnt think she could reregister as a business as not selling that much and often low value stuff. She has spoken to ebay again and they have basically said she will get blocked if attempts to open another account and that her ban is indefinite - which may or may not mean forever Confused

Her low marks were for delivery time - over a specific period (recent) - all other areas her marks are excellent - as I explained she had a tough time and did explain to all buyers - clearly some were not very understanding. Will have to see if any other solutions. thanks

I had the same thing happen to me and the only thing she can do is open another account but she will need to use another email address. When I did it I wrote my address a slightly different way and used my Sunday name but I don`t know if that is needed. It is very upsetting, I had just short of 1000 feedback score (not one negative or neutral) and had to start from scratch, it has taken me 12 months and have just got my Powerseller status this week so tell her to keep her chin up and carry on!!

p.s. If she registers as a business seller she will still be banned but will be charged for the priveledge.

I am so sorry. Have no advice. But am not surprised. We too have been users for years and have 1500 or so feedback. And tone eBay generally has changed over the last year or so. And I am not surprised by the tone of the email to her either. Just not the same.

Do you have an ebay account or could you open one on her behalf?
She could use it for selling only, and her own for buying?

Can't she build up her feedback from buying? I had a negative which restricted me for a while. Is it 6 months?

Seriously the only way to resolve it is to up her marks by selling some stuff and improving her marks, I had this happen to me. You should be able to work out how many 4/5 stars it will take to get back up, I did mine in a month.

Except she appears to have been blocked from selling

No her selling has been restricted, basically to a sml number of item totally less then something like £16 until her marks are where they should be on the dashboard

Suggest she looks at local FB selling sites. At least it avoids fees.
