Should I reimburse postage?

Sold an item and packed and labelled after auction with the username address. Waited for payment and put in the post. Just had an email saying that they did not want it sent to that address but to a friend's address which they had specified on the paypal payment. Now they will be out of pocket as will need to send it on. I usually always get address from username and never thoght to check. Should i compensate for lost postage. If she had emailed me with alternate address I would have posted it there. Thanks in advance.

[hhmm] I thought you were always supposed to send to the verified address provided by eBay/ PayPal?
Otherwise you could be sending goods to someone who is using someone else's account.

you should only send to the address on the paypal email - if they wanted a different address they should have added it to paypal before paying, and chosen that alternate gift address for you to send the item to.

I'm confused now. The address on the paypal transaction is the friends but I can't find the address I sent to. I labelled the parcel the samd evening and think she must have changed the address on the paypal transaction when she paid. I must have got the ebayers address off paypal before she changed it. I can't think where else I got it from.

Sorry Fergoose. x posts. The address on the paypal transaction now is the friends address. The address I put on is the buyers own that I can't see where I got it from. Should I always check before posting an item that the address has'nt been changed? Am I liable for postage?

You'll probably have got the buyer's address from the ebay notification you were copied, saying 'You've sold your item.....', by the way.
