Sellers bidding on their items?

I'm a bit of an eBay newbie.

I'm trying to buy a fridge and the seller is bidding against me. Is that allowed? Seems a bit unfair - surely they should have put a reserve on if it's not going for enough?

That's against the rules of ebay. Are you absolutely sure it's the seller? You can't actually bid on your own items (although some people do shilling which is where they get a friend to bid to artificially bump the price).

You should report to ebay

How do you know they are bidding on it?

How do you know?

Bidders are kept anonymous by the system these days.

Also they will not be able to physically bid on their own listing - unless they have more than one account with a different name.

blush just had another look, I got the names mixed up!

What an idiot.

Thanks though. They do have very similar names though.
