eBay

Sellers 'terms'

I haven't got a problem with ebay, I just wondered what others views were. When I look at items and then read the descriptions a lot of sellers put additional 'terms' in them. I mean 'terms' very loosely. Things like...

  • I cannot be responsible for items going missing in the post
  • Please pay within 24 hours
  • I sell good quality items that I would like to receive, I describe them as I see them, if there is a spot I apologise as I have made a mistake
  • No returns.

I know that I just need to pay within 4 days, if there is a problem with the item not arriving or not being described properly I can open a case. Why do people include these phrases, have they had bad experiences in the past? I understand the payment thing when they say they can only get to the PO on X or Y and I appreciate the information.

However I tend to avoid these sellers as I think that if there is a problem, they aren't going to be very helpful and I would have to go through ebay / paypal.

yes they are responsible for lost items, you have 7 days to pay not 4, they do have to accept returns

Terms like those have me hitting the back button every time!

I avoid sellers with lots of "terms". The more lurid coloured & long winded the text, the quicker I am to look for another seller.
I mostly sell on Ebay, btw, my sympathies are all with sellers, but not silly conditions ones.

I do too, I don't understand why they do it.

Thanks for the 7 day bit fergoose, I think I was getting confused with being able to open a non payment case after 4 days?
