Bloody had it with Ebay, fuming!(46 Posts)
Sold a load of ds's clothes on EBay last week and stupidly sent them 2nd class instead oft usual recorded. No problems until two days ago a message from buyer to say they've not received item. Posted their parcel last Friday and got proof of postage and given that it was only 3 working days after posting I asked them to wait a bit longer given I'd sent it 2nd class.
Anyway to cut a long story short they've emailed today and said parcel still not received I want a refund. It's now been 5 working days since I posted and eBay have advised me that it would be premature to refund just yet and the buyer won't be allowed to open a case until next Wednesday.
I emailed buyer and said this and said could they kindly bear with me for a few more days and assuring that I would refund if it didn't turn up. I also asked them to check it wasn't lying at their local sorting office.
Buyer has totally ignored my messages and emailed me back to say that they were "out of pocket" and disappointed with my service and so would be filing a case with EBay and giving be negative feedback!!!
For fuck sake! It's like I'm banging my head against a brick wall!
I said that I was disappointed they were taking that view but I wasn't the post office and I hadn't said I wouldn't refund, I just wanted them to wait a few more days to see if it turned up.
Then got another message saying I was a scammer and they didn't believe I had posted it at all and spouting a load of other shit. They reckon I won't be able to get a negative feedback removed.
I've since sent them the proof of postage and said I'll telephone their local sorting office to see whether it's there. Told them not to contact me again to which I got a reply saying "oh don't worry I will be contacting you as you've got my money".
It's a £8 boy's secondhand top FFS!
I know I'll have to refund but fucking hell cute a bit of slack!
It's all stacked in the buyer's favour now.
Could bloody kick myself for not sending it recorded.
So have you phoned the sorting office?
Document all you've done in your email correspondence. I know it's hard, but make sure you remain calm and polite in your emails as eBay has access to these, so they can see you've done to help the buyer.
You won't be able to get the negative removed but might be able to get the comment removed if it's slander. You can also respond to their comment in your feedback which they won't be able to remove.
Yes rang sorting office this afternoon and it was answerphone. They only open till 1pm. Will try again tomorrow.
I rang EBay for advice today and they said I may be able to get a negative removed but to try and keep line of communication open with buyer.
How do you do that with a moron who types like she's just stepped off The Jeremy Kyle Show.
I've got the rage
You shouldn't have sent them the proof of postage as you need that to make a claim from Royal Mail. They can't claim themselves.
Ebay will back you up with regards to the buyer having to wait a bit longer. Royal Mail do not class an item as lost for 15 working days. Which is a pain if you are the buyer, but not your fault if you are the seller.
If they opened a case against you then you have days to sort things out (can't remember the exact timescale, but it is at least 4 days). Ebay can see the messages sent between you and the buyer so if the buyer is horrible or abusive then it will be seen.
The buyer can not threaten you with negative feedback, that is feedback extortion and if they have put that in an email then you can show it to ebay and they will remove the feedback.
I really feel for you. The amount of times I have got upset over ebay because somebody has been nasty to me (I tend to sell things and people complain over stupid tiny things - some people will try anything to get money back or a free item). I've come to the conclusion that you need thick skin to sell on there nowadays.
I have dealt with these type of people Beofre . It really spoils eBay . I sold a Primark kids dress for 99 p and she went ballistic because she thought it was marks and spencer . It was a gorgeous dress and it was 99 p !! I was polite but asked we to type properly because I couldn't understand text speak . I have her her money back but you would have thought I sent her a rag the way she was going on ! I have 100 % feedback and only sell fabulous things i would want to buy .. Twat !
Just reread your op, am I right in thinking you posted their parcel last Friday, so it's only been a week?
I took a pic of the proof of postage on my phone and attached it to my reply. I've got the original
Yes I do feel the messages from her/him have been quite threatening. I.e give me refund now or I'll give you negative feedback.
Looks like I'll have to refund, I'll get a negative and even if I claim
With RM they check with buyer that they've not received item and of buyer doesn't confirm that within five days you don't get any compensation. It's a joke.
Won't be selling on EBay again, had enough of it.
Yes it's been a week. So the earliest EBay will allow them to open case is next Wed.
The buyer has confirmed that as soon as EBay let her open a case she will and then give me a negative.
I've told her I will refund her if she waits a little longer. There is no case!!!
They've only got 9 feedback. I've got 666 100% positive. This bitch is gonna spoil that. Fucker I'm fuming.
Don't refund unless ebay say you should. That's what i would do anyway because she's being an arse.
It sounds to me as though she may be lying about having received it.
I've come across a buyer like that they threatened to leave bad feedback unless I sent them the proof of postage (which I reported), they ended up leaving neutral after I refunded and emailed a pic of the proof. The shrug eventually came back to me with a sticker on it saying it hadn't been collected from the sorting office.
Yes I agree fuckadoodle. That may well be the case. I can't prove it though, just as I can't prove she didn't receive it. My stupidity at not sending it recorded. You just put your trust in people don't you and expect a bit of understanding. If everybody demanded a refund after a parcel didn't turn up after a week then there would be a lot of buyers on Ebay quids in.
So everyone. If you ever receive an ebay parcel that isn't sent recorded start rubbing your hands together because you can just ask Ebay to refund and claim you never received it. You get to keep the item and get your money back. Win win eh?!
Rugbugs, I did put my address on the back and I will be ringing the sorting office in her area tomorrow morning to see if she hasn't collected it.
The thing is she isn't replying directly to my questions. I've asked her if she would maybe check with her sorting office to see if they've failed to put a card through her door but she hasn't replied. I just keep getting curt messages calling me a scammer/i've ripped her off/i'm a crap seller/threatening me with negative feedback.
Ok, i sell quite a lot on e-bay (personal and dh's buisness), i have come across this several times.
First of all, one neg feedback will not effect your sales, you can reply to feedback (something like 'proof of postage sent and refund offered'), bad feedback is not the end of the world (shows you wont let people walk all over you).
Because the buyer is being so rude i would not refund them, let them take it to paypal and let them decide, quite often e-bay/paypal will go in their favour but not always. I had one buyer complain that their item was not recieved, paypal asked me for a copy of proof of posting, i scanned the recipt from the post office and sent it to them and it ended in my favour.
I have a couple bad feedbacks (where i have refused to back down) but i still get good prices for my items.
That's why I only send recorded and charge accordingly .. Trust no one .
Have you thought about phoning them? Dont give out your phone number though.
Thanks Marne. I won't refund until i'm forced to because the way I see it, she's going to give me a negative whatever I do anyway. I'm not letting her bully me. If I get any more abuse I might just have to drop it in the conversation that my DH is a police officer and I don't like her tone.
Zippey - no fucking way am I phoning her. I did look to see if she had a number and she hasn't got one on her profile. I'm likely to get abuse. She seems a bit stupid by her responses to be honest. I can't deal with someone like that.
I couldn't bear to sell anything on Ebay for a while, after I had a buyer claim that the items never showed up at theirs, and though I had proof of postage and offered to send them (a copy of it) charged ahead with a "item not received" case, etc, and Ebay forced me to refund the item. I always put my return address on the back, etc, and it never came back to me.
I now only ever post things Second class recorded - it's worth the extra £0.75 honestly. I hope this works out for you, good for you for standing by your "wait a little bit longer please" line, and not being intimidated by the threat of bad feedback. Who are these people who want the item, for free (when you issue a refund), and then to slag you off with bad feedback? A person would never act this way in a shop, surely?
She sounds a bit crazy and or nasty from her attacking emails to you. Don't bother getting into an argument with her or telling her your husband is a policeman! Completely pointless. Just let ebay deal with it.
I had a parcel which didn't turn up and i told the seller and after one stroppy email from them they just refused to answer my emails at all! I told ebay and they dealt with it and got my money back. Apparently some time later the parcel was returned to them so possibly the postman didn't put a card through my door or something. Didn't feel too bad because they were being an arse but in future I'll check at the sorting office.
Well that is it, I buy loads on Ebay and I would never insist that someone refunds me after a week of delivery. I'd wait the required time (I think it's something like ten working days before they can open a case) and then ask politely for a refund and that is after checking with my sorting office and neighbours or whatever.
Total fuckwits some people.
Since posting only signed for/tracked/special delivery, I've been marked down on DSRs for P&P, markedly so.
Awful complaints for paying 90p more for guaranteed delivery.
But, why would I send out a £50+ product with £1 postage????
When I used to send out in non-signed for postage, umm, lots/most/all would never arrive. Since signed for: all arrive. Complete with complaints from recipients who say the extra postage spoils it all. They read my Ts and Cs. It's 90p more than un-signed.
You can't win.
But you will lose if you don't send and aks a signature. Fact!
Lord, that made no sense.
I mean, I post every item out 'signed for' from £1 -£45
Up from that? 'Special delivery'
