I bought a table top dishwasher off of ebay was described as...

Here for auction we have a superb tabletop dishwasher by Naiko, this dishwasher comes with all the neccessary pipes that are needed,

There is a little cosmetic wear on the dishwasher and a little rust underneath however on the good side the inside of the dishwasher is in pristine condition with the oroginal tray and cutlery tub,

Excellent item for any home

Low start price, as i dont have room anymore, so have fun bidding

if you have any questions please feel free to ask and i will try my best to answer them.

The item is pick up only, however YOU can organise a courier to pick the item up, also you can pay through paypal or on collection

Thankyou

What I actually got was a piece of crap which flooded my kitchen within seconds of being turned on!!!

here

The seller now says it is my fault that SHE didn't wrap it properly and that damage shown in the pictures happened in transit. Personally I think she knew it was faulty.
She has offered me a partial refund

AIBU to refuse this?

How is it your fault that she didn't wrap it properly? [boggle]

SansaLannister · 24/10/2011 21:51

Refuse it!

MaureenMLove · 24/10/2011 21:52

Shock That is not damage from not being wrapped properly! That is also more than a little rust!

Time to open a dispute with Ebay I think!

faverolles · 24/10/2011 21:54

It doesn't even look fit for freecycle!

madonnawhore · 24/10/2011 21:54

That thing looks knackered. Open a dispute.

sarahtigh · 24/10/2011 21:54

no YANBU

you can say exactly what you like in your description but the fact remains seller is responsible if item arrives cracked or broken, it is her responsibilty to make sure packing is good enough, it should have been in really strong cardboard box ( not crisp box) with all spaces filled with newspaper so it can not rattle or slide in box in transit, items banging against each other often causes breakages

however you will have to return at your expense then you should get refund of cost plus original postage charge, no way is that in good condition I would have said it is a bit rusty and battered but it still works open a dispute and select return for full refund

it is possible that as all couriers and royal mail tend to hurl parcels arpound that it broke a bit more in transit hence the leak

I have sold quite a bit of MIL china and ceramics and i really pack well but occasionally things break and you just have to refund and you can not claim of royal mail or couriers as neither pay out for glass orr china breaking only if they lose it

good luck

FabbyChic · 24/10/2011 21:54

Did you pay via PayPal? If you did open a dispute for item not as described siting the reason that the rust was that bad it caused a hole to form in the bottom, because that is what the problem is.

You will have to return trackable at your own expense.

However if you open an eBay dispute you might not have to return and get a no fault refund.

If you paid cash you are fucked. You are not covered.

You are only protected if you paid for the ITEM by PayPal and not via send money and a personal payment.

FabbyChic · 24/10/2011 21:55

I had one of those brand new from Lidl 8 years ago cost brand new £39.99.

squeakyfreakytoy · 24/10/2011 21:58

put in a paypal claim for item not as described

LemonPeel · 24/10/2011 21:58

bloody hell what a heap if shit

how much was it btw cos not even worth a penny

caramelwaffle · 24/10/2011 21:59

Oh wow. They sold you a piece of poo.

Open a dispute.

FabbyChic · 24/10/2011 22:02

Open the dispute via the eBay Resolution Centre but only if you paid via PayPal are you covered and only if you paid via eBay checkout or associated the payment with the item, personal payments are not protected. If you made two payments one for postage and one for the item you are only protected for one payment.

LadyEvenstarsCoven · 24/10/2011 22:03

I have opened a dispute. This was one of her responses

"How about i give you a partial refund and you can keep the item to either sell on or try fixing, '

How about not eh? and you give me a full refund!

pigletmania · 24/10/2011 22:05

That condition is Shock how the hell is it your fault, file a dispute with Paypal. The item was not fit for purpose and not as described.

Moomim · 24/10/2011 22:05

YANBU. partial refund my ass, haul her over the coals. If it caused any damage in your kitchen add the cost of that onto the dispute.

Cheeseandseveredfingersarnie · 24/10/2011 22:05

how about the seller shove the dishwasher up his/her backside?

member · 24/10/2011 22:05

I think this is not a new fault judging by the extent of the corrosion Shock

pigletmania · 24/10/2011 22:06

Errr why would you keep a pile of poo, how can you sell that heap of shit on Hmm. No file a dispute for the full amount.

LadyEvenstarsCoven · 24/10/2011 22:08

Piglet thats what I said!!

OP posts:
FabbyChic · 24/10/2011 22:09

I hope you don't have to return it if you do you have to pay for that yourself you don't get that back and you have to send back trackable, the tracking showing online.

Its going to cost £15 at least to return it. I hope you neg her.

Fifis25StottieCakes · 24/10/2011 22:16

i wouldnt buy anything expensive off ebay. My friend bought a washer for £70 dropped off. It didnt work. She was a single parents as well on benefits, TWATS.

Ive just flogged my 1st lot of stuff and have had 2 emails off buyers thanking me. TBH i didnt get what i thought i would.

raise a dispute with e bay. They can refund you if the seller doesnt.
