Urgent help needed

Hope someone can quickly help me, because I am ready for bed and need to make a decision before. It runs out 4 something am.

I really want to buy this Duplo train set for my DS.

The postage is ridiculously high, but I hope / assume it is just a mistake as it is a new seller. It also says that the item location is in London, but that it will be posted from outside the UK. Could it just be that the person has clicked a wrong option by accident or is this the actual postage? (Tried contacting seller earlier on, but no reply yet)

When I tried putting a bid on it, ebay said that my phone number will be requested in case I won the item. Never seen this before. What is this about?

So, is this a fishy thing or could I get the bargain of the year? The set is on amazon for over £100, so it would be super cheap.

I think I'd leave it in all honesty - no sale history and lots of mistakes.

Well I would email the seller and ask if it is wrong, but I wouldn't bid on those terms. Postage that high is fee avoidance.

there is no way i would bid on that.

sometimes sellers put a really high postage on to circumvent fees.

if you win it then you will have to pay the postage unless the seller agrees that it was a mistake, which they probably won't.

Also the photo isn't their actual item is it, you can't judge the condition of it from a photo of a new item they have stolen from elsewhere.

I think you really have to expect to agree with whatever is in the listing. Seller does not have to agree to local pick up.

Re phone number - Ebay did this to me recently, is a standard security check. They email you a code, then ring you and you have to punch the code into your phone to prove that you are you.

I have just noticed other items this person is selling and s/he seems to be in Australia. Still unreliable?

I wouldn;t buy it, especially as they have a feedback of 0 and the P&P seems ridiculous.

Such a bummer, too good to be true. I won't risk it, but it would have been the best Christmas present for my son.

some of his auctions are in US dollars, some are in AU dollars... all listings say location is London

The cheapest on the net I can find is £85. And that is way out of my budget.

Thanks thisisyesterday. I am going to watch the one with still 9 days running. The other one also has very high postage and it wouldn't be worth it. It is still time to Christmas, so hopefully I will find one for my little man and DH

I bought something a while ago that had a very high postage, I contacted seller and asked for size, weight etc and whether she would use a courier company, she provided dimensions and said she wanted to use traceable postage (which of course a courier is) so I bid and won.
Seller then refused to use the courier and insisted on using royal mail so I had to pay twice the price it shoudl fo cost and more than the item.
