Returned item not arrived, what happens next ?

I purchased an item in eBay which cost about £35. Item arrive & had scratching, was listed as excellent condition. Contacted seller who apologised & offered me full refund & asked that I return item. Posted about 10 days ago & sent with what I think is a tracking no, i.e. they sign on delivery.

Seller says it hasn't arrived yet, so what happens next ?

There is no pay pal dispute opened as they agreed to refund & I assume as I returned it, I am responsible for it ? So do I go to P.O. & claim & keep the money ?

Aaaarrrgghh !

You need to open a return item case in Ebay and put the tracking number in.

Did you return it recorded or special delivery ? Either way you can check the status via Royal Mail.
If you sent it Recorded and the seller hasn't collected it then it will probably be on it's way back to you.
Ebay usually are happy providing you have tracked proof of a return.
You might find that if the item has gone missing they will do a no fault refund so you get your money back and the seller isn't penalised.

Bear in mind though that very little actually goes missing in the post and in future if you have any issues open a case at the start, you can always close it as resolved but it will cover you.

this happened to me :(

i had a dispute going with ebay, but because they never got the item back (or claimed not to... it was signed for but some posties are a little too friendly with their customers i find!) i couldn't get my money back.
i had a tracking number, but because it said it hadn't been delivered ebay would not refund me

am STILL going through the compensation process via royal mail, it's been over 2 months now.

grrr

You need to check the tracking number on the Royal Mail website which will tell you whether it has been signed for. If it doesn't arrive then you'll need to claim from Royal Mail.

claim from Royal Mail for the lost parcel - and check to see if the seller relists it within the next days or weeks

I bet they have received it but negligent postie didn't get a signature

I returned it signed for, so have checked royal mail tracking & it states they couldn't deliver it (no-one to sign for it etc) it's bulky so they wouldn't be able to put it through the postbox.

I did scrawl my house no & postcode on the back, so hopefully won't be lost.

So will I find the eBay returns form ok ?

I feel slightly sick about it all :-(

if you open a not as described case when they ask you to put in tracking number you can give them your number

an attempted delivery is enough for you to get a refund

Ok, so it turns out it was delivered but they were on holiday (not sure how as she was emailing stating it hadn't arrived)

Have opened a paypal dispute in the meantime, turns out said item is on it's way back to me....

so it was delivered and now they are sending it back to you - the seller has paid more postage to return the item to you? Am confused!

So seller was trying to pull a fast one pretending not to receive it. The royal mail tracking shows it wasn't delivered doesn't it?

If a signed for item isn't collected after a week, RM send it back to the sender.

ok so it wasn't delivered, there was only an attempted delivery?

Attempted delivery, no card left & apparently parcel is on it's way back to me. Now, I've only scrawled my house no & postcode on the back, so hoping it'll arrive ok....?
I don't understand why/how they were away when she was emailing me saying it hadn't arrived...

Perhaps they were on holiday but had a family member/neighbour checking their mail?
Most people take their laptop/smartphone on holiday these days don't they?

so now the seller is refusing your refund then?

Just give ebay the tracking number when asked and they will refund - an attempted delivery is sufficient for them to refund you

I wonder if seller refused the delivery and is lying through their teeth?
