eBay

Weird Paypal payment

This is probably nothing but I've just received a payment from Paypal for something and the email is different to the usual ones.

Normally the subject line says : Item no.1111111111 - Notification of an Instant Payment Received from xxxxxxxxxxxxx

This one just says: Notification of payment received

The layout of the email is different too. This one is laid out more like the details screen within Paypal whearas normally they are quite wordy.

I've been in and checked the payment and it looks like its ok, and Ebay confirms they've paid, I'm just curious as to the different layout.

Its a newbie with FB of 4, but who hasn't bought anything for the past year, if that makes any difference.

I know its difficult to know what I'm on about without actually seeing the emails, but has anyone else seen emails like this?

Thanks

they probably sent the payment direct to your email address from paypal rather than paying you through ebay

If in doubt phone paypal before posting the item

Thanks Fergoose. That could be it. It seems a bit of a strange thing to do though!

But thinking about it, if it is marked as paid in ebay then they must have paid through ebay for it to link up

Have you logged into paypal, and is the payment showing in your history there?

It shows in Ebay as normal

In Paypal: I've compared it to another payment and the details are laid out identically, so no clues there.

Paypal says it's ok to post the item, as does Ebay.

Its just the email thats in a weird format.

ok - just maybe post it out recorded/ courier/with an online signature proof of delivery for your peace of mind?

I only usually use recorded for the higher priced items, but I think I will make an exception for this one.

Thanks for the advice Fergoose

I think they have made some changes as mine has gone exactly the same as yours. I noticed it yesterday and have sold a few things tonight and all have that format. Looks like they have done an update or something.

I'm glad its not just me LilyPickle Grin

I had a payment afterwards though and it was in the original format. Oh well, so long as the money is in my account I'll stop worrying as to how it got there.
