eBay

"No returns": What if item is not as described?

I bought some trousers on ebay. When they arrived today they are not the size stated on the listing - so they don't fit!!

The seller stated "no returns" on the listing. Would this policy still stand even though she had described the item wrongly?

I think you can ignore the no returns thing. I'd approach the seller, politely asking for a full refund and if you don't get any joy then open a case in the resolution centre.

If item is not as described then you should get a refund, many people say 'no refunds' meaning 'no refunds if buyer sudenly changes there minds, item doesn't suit them or doesnt fit (because they have put on weight) ect..

did she describe the item incorrectly - did she say they were a 12 when the garment says a 14 - or did she describe them as the size on the label and they are not a true fit to size label
or are they american sizing - often described wrong on e bay
if they are not sized as listed then you should first contact her to raise a friendly refund - if this does not work then open a dispute

She said they were a 14 but they were a 14 short

I would nver have bought them if I'd known they were "short" as I'm a tall person!

I have emailed the seller so hopefully she will be OK with a refund.

Thanks for all your advice!

no returns is totally irrelevant and should be ignored

if seller is uncooperative open not as described case with ebay and follow their instructions and you will get a refund

Yep - please follow the advice already given - you are fully entitled to return any item for a full refund if it is not as described. It matters not a jot if the seller has said no returns.

It never ceases to amaze me how many sellers still put this meaningless tripe on their listings.

Ask nicely first and hopefully they will behave as they should, if not open an item not as described case and you will be fine.

Thanks for your advice, seller initially refused to refund because I "should have asked whether they were long or short length" - erm no, you said in the ad that they were a 14 not a 14 short as was written on the label!

Then she mailed back to say she'd thought about it and would refund me.
