What would you say is a healthy weight to aim for?

I am 22, 5 ft 6 inches and 109 lbs. I am technically underweight (couple years of restricting too much has led me here) and feel I should gain a bit but am not sure what to aim for. I don't have anyone to talk to about this and would love some input from real people. Any help would be great smile

I'm the same height but 40. I'd aim for 55 kilos. I am that and people say I'm very slim. But not too thin. My BMI must be late 19s to early 20s I think.

I'm interested what others think.

The BMI chart (which I know has its failings) says 115lbs is the lowest in your ‘healthy’ range for your height. Could you aim for that and see how you feel?

I was told to aim for minimum BMI of 19 by a dietician.
When under the care of my local ED team they suggested 54kg at 5ft 5, which is 19.8 BMI.
Below 19 seems to mess with your hormones/periods etc IME.
I was mid 40s when I started restricting and it has caused early menopause and osteopenia, not much fun.

Thanks Fennybridges. That's useful, and that doesn't seem like too intimidating a goal.

Amymel, thank you for your help. I used to be happy enough at 115 - reaching that again is a good start smile

Trickyex, I'm sorry to hear about your experiences and thanks for sharing that. I'll keep it in mind and aim for bmi 19. Thanks again

I always aim to be in the top half of my healthy BMI range. Then you can afford to get food poisoning without looking emaciated. Doesn't often work though.
