Relative using proanorexia websites

I've found out that a close relative of mine who has had severe anorexia uses proanorexia websites. They are younger than I am and I can't tell their parents or confront them directly (due to past history, denial and other issues I don't want to go into). They are studying at the moment. I feel totally hopeless and desperate to help. What is the responsible thing to do? What is the best thing to do?

maybe have a word with your relative and say i am very worried about you and if you dont stop i will tell your parents. I dont think you have much choice, let your relative know how concerned you are. My DD got into them websites and is now having CBT for wrong attitude towards eating and foods, if she didn't live with us she would be in a worse situation we truly believe.

All the best with making your decision.

I would also post this on the teenagers thread if she is /other boards to get more advise.

Maybe it is helpful for her to have contact with people who understand?

If it was me there would be a straight up conversation about how scared I was for her, and how deluded those websites are. Try not to same "blame" things about her, but about those websites, blunt message.

Not harp on it many times.

Is this a person under 18?

She is twenty and at university. I had a conversation with her this morning, but she refused to engage at all.

Of course she didn't engage. It's her security blanket. She has a self-narrative that she's in control & this is just a life style choice. Other people are deluded about what is an attractive body size if they argue there's such a thing as too thin (that's what the pro-anny sites say).

If you talk other people in her life about your concerns, then you have done as much as you can. Very sorry. Flowers. It's a wretched disease.

Sorry I forgot the name probably shouldn't be on here - I just asked because I've had a fair bit of experience and some are less concerning then the names suggest
