What does this mean?

Hi all, don't know if I'm posting in the right section but I have a query. What does it mean if a person doesn't want to strave but prefers to go long periods without eating or feel better for not eating? is this is a sign of an ed or just someone who's body conscious when it comes to their weight?

It does sound like a control issue of some sort. I have a friend like this, he only eats certain foods and go up to 3 days on just cups of tea. He's been that way for 20+ years, and has a 28 inch waist. We've spoke about it several times and it never makes a difference to him. He knows its odd to eat this way but its just how he is

Ah okay because my understanding of an ed was someone who doesn't want to eat at all if possible but this isn't like that. If a person does have those habits of only eating certain foods and going for long periods without eating, when do you know if they need or help or not? Or isit something that can't be diagnosed?

Eating disorders are hardly ever about food. They're about gaining control of something in your life when everything is going to shit

whether or not it has a name is a different matter but it would certainly be considered as something that might need treatment

Is it yourself or a friend that's struggling?

For my friend, his mum died, his dad left and 2 years later his fiance and unborn baby were killed in a hit and run. No wonder he had problems really
