Hi there,

After failed IVF/IUI in London last year we were referred to IVI Barcelona who are attempting to find another donor for us after the first one didn't happen.

I am in consultations with a clinic in London but would like to stay with Barcelona as they found a donor for us quickly the first time.

We are waiting for the first attempt with a donor egg.

I'd like to ask for your stories about clinics in Spain or London.

Much appreciated.

EMR34 xx

Our 4 year old was conceived at IVI Alicante with a donor egg. We picked out of two donors who matched my characteristics. The donors had already frozen their eggs so we didnt have to wait. Service was excellent. DS was our second round and was a day 5 embryo.xx

Hi,

I have twins who are 12 and were conceived via donor embryo in Spain. At that time I went to Spain as waiting lists in UK were 5 years and the law was still anonymity. My children have always known they are donor conceived (I am a solo mum) and that we only have the donors' age and blood group. They are now expressing their desire to know more about their donors and meet them if possible and also to find donor siblings. My daughter just wants to know where she comes from. She wonders if her donor is from Rumania as many egg donors in Spain are migrant workers and university student. Was the sperm donor Spanish as my son is very dark? These are legitimate questions.. One benefit of the UK is ID release for donors, but I know it is expensive and if you have no choice then you may like to look at Portugal who now have ID release donors. If you do have to go to Spain, then clinics do vary in the amount of information they will give you about the donors. If you haven't already done so, I really recommend giving the Donor Conception Network helpline a call on 0207 278 2608 as they are happy to talk through the issue and options and they are DC parents. Best wishes, C
