Thinking about donating my eggs...

Hi all

I'm not sure what I want to gain from this really, just putting my thoughts down.

I'm very nearly 35 so don't have a lot of time to make a decision on this, as the local clinic cut off is 35 for altruistic donation.

I'm thinking about donating eggs to people I don't know, any children born can trace me at 18 if they choose to.

I've had two children through ICSI already so I know what happens in egg collection. It's not fun but it's manageable.

We have embryos left over but neither DH nor I feel able to donate them. The thought of destroying them is horrendous but we can't donate them.

DH is lukewarm about egg donation but accepts it's my decision.

Any experience or thoughts?

No experience of it but just wanted to say it's so good there are people willing to do it. I guess having had your children via ICSI you understand the pain of infertility, and now the joy of parenthood, and it's a very kind heart to consider donating eggs.

I'm the other side where IVF with my own eggs hasn't worked and a donor out there may make it possible for us to become parents.

Hopefully a fellow donor will be along soon, in the meantime I'd contact your local clinic to see what they say, I imagine they have a waiting list of patients.
I would expect you to be offered counselling to help you decide it's right for you. 💐

I've donated 5 times, 1st was a failed collection, collections 2, 3and 5 have resulted in one child each so just 4th collection to o! My army is growing 😂 I only stopped donating as I turned 36 a week after my last donation. I am being a surrogate for my friend next week :)
