Hi all

I'm trying home insemination with donor sperm soon. I'm 42 so my chances are low although conceived DC1 on first try at 37.

I'm about to make a clinic appointment to get my eggs checked and discuss if I should take clomid or do IUI but will try this cycle naturally.

If anyone has any tips I would love to hear them. Please wish me luck-it's been a long journey to get to this point. I've looked at the stats for ny age and know I would be very lucky.

My main tip, especially if you're using frozen sperm, is that timing is everything so use several methods of establishing when you're ovulating, and preferably spend a couple of months getting that down first (although this might be something to balance against time being short age-wise). Good luck!

I home inseminated using a known donor, not through a clinic. I did 3 months of LCHF diet first as low/no sugar diets are recommended for fertility. I got pregnant first time. DD is 2 next Feb. I'm planning to try again with the same method around then. I initially tried home insemination with no diet changes and was unsuccessful. I have PCOS and had painful cystic ovulation. LCHF seemed to work for me. I'd recommend it to any woman trying to get pregnant.

Thank you so much both. Mine is a known donor. I have not heard of LCFH so will look it up now. I'm peeing on sticks and using apps to try and work out my timing, which is tricky as still settling down since coming off pill.

OP it's recommended to be on LCHF for at least 3 months, prior to trying, to be fully in ketosis. That should be enough time for your natural cycle to emerge. I found working out dates worked better for me than ovulation sticks. If your periods were/are pretty regular a pattern will become apparent. Even if they're a bit irregular as long as you inseminate within the 7 day ovulation window the sperm have a good chance of surviving in your body to be ready for ovulation. If you read up on LCHF youll see women are warned to be vigilant when on it as it makes you more fertile. Fertility doctors recommend low sugar low carb diets for fertility. I personally went zero carb but you don't have to. Hi,

My wife and I went with a known donor and just tracked everything for months before to try and get it all right with timings etc. To be honest we had watched videos galore on how to do it but we were so nervous when it came to it and just went with what we thought was right.

My wife got pregnant first time and is now 31+5 and all is going well.

I’m sure it’s different for everyone but we did the whole legs up after etc and who knows if that helped or not but old wives tales or not we wanted to try everything!

Good Luck :)
