Hi folks, and welcome to your shiny, new topic for everyone working in or interested in working in health and care. Doctors, nurses, dentists, paramedics, pharmacists and assorted other heroes of our times, step this way. We want to make clear that this topic is only for discussion of the relevant professions so if you spot anyone who has wandered in accidentally with a health-related query do report it and we'll move it over to General Health. Enjoy your new topic!

Well I don't like it already! There are more other Allied Health Care Professionals than 'doctors and nurses'

And Doctors and Nurses are actually 'health care professionals'.

So to me it's like reading... Dads, Mums and Familes.

Humf.

My suggestion was HCP corner.

Includes everyone and doesn't imply a hierarchy

HCP Corner is better.

Makes it obvious for the target posters to spot. But less obvious to the rest of us.

If you call it by the current title I will find your all and describe my back symptoms :)

Ooh er.
I’m only hospital admin and p/t alongside another non medical profession
Am I welcome?

WeirdyMcBeardy · 11/04/2018 16:44

I'm admin too and not keen on the title, or descriptive paragraph. No mention of non clinical staff at all. I'm certainly no hero sat at my desk Hmm.

You need to move this to the “work” section MNHQ.

Well this has got off to a flying start Grin

MrsTylerJoseph · 11/04/2018 21:31

Hmmm. Yes, think I would have preferred HCP chat/corner rather than drs, nurses, etc.

cupoflemontea · 11/04/2018 22:12

In fact - where did this title even come from? Not one person suggested it on the original thread in site stuff as far as I can see?

StealingYourWiFi · 11/04/2018 22:14

Yes, don’t like the title Grin

Report
RuckingMarvellous · 11/04/2018 22:16

Erm I’m a midwife. Not loving the title guys.

HCP Corner would be better, all inclusive minus hierarchy...

Report
londonloves · 11/04/2018 22:22

Yep, very unhelpfully hierarchical title. This sort of crap perpetuates the "only admin" feelings of staff members who should be valued equally to clinical staff.

leghoul · 11/04/2018 22:25

HCP corner is better. Anyone who is one knows what it means and won't like an outdated hierarchical title.

But thank you HQ that was speedy

Oh just what we need - another board! It's not like there aren't 100s of other MN boards full of tumbleweed ...

And how patronising to call HCPs "heroes" Hmm

Report
MrsTylerJoseph · 11/04/2018 22:44

Amal, people did ask for this board.

Teachers have one as do Academics.

OTornot · 11/04/2018 23:02

Is there any chance the title of the topic could be changed please?

Report
MrsLemonadeBrain · 11/04/2018 23:04

Amal we all wanted it? It’s just a shame it’s not the name we would’ve liked

Butteredparsn1ps · 11/04/2018 23:14

Ducks in for a soggy sandwich and a cold cuppa.

I think some of the suggestions on the thread suggesting this were better. Needs to be a corner for all HCPs to grumble.

Iloveteaandcake · 11/04/2018 23:20

MNHQ- please let’s change title to ‘HCP corner’. Also, it would be better under ‘Work’ I think

Report
PeterPiperPickedSeaShells · 12/04/2018 07:44

I agree, HCP corner & under "work" would make more sense - took me ages to find this!

SophieLMumsnet · 12/04/2018 09:08

Hi all,

Thanks for the feedback - we'll certainly pass this upwards, but it might be a couple of days before we hear back on this so please do bear with us Flowers

Another vote to just name it HCP corner, (another 'excluded' HCP here Sad..) - and most importantly put under 'work' heading, as it otherwise will attract loads of people needing advice on health-related matters

Found it!
Another one not particularly enamoured with the name - what hierarchy I hear you say

HCP corner gets my vote too.

Ex-hospital admin here would fully agree with "HCP corner" and support that it could be changed, so upvote from me re that.

Waves to @londonloves as all the data and paperwork and transcription and filing has to be coordinated by someone body so not "only admin" a part of the wider team to help keep all systems running as it takes many skills and disciplines to work together which is what happens.

The admin is important in its own right as is clinical skills. Shares a virtual brew with fellow admins past and present Brew

Report
WeirdyMcBeardy · 13/04/2018 21:09

I agree smurfy, as admin myself Grin. I hold my clinical colleagues in high regard and they really know their stuff, but they aren't the most organised of people and I do wonder how they would manage doing all the general admin. Usually they often can't find the clearly labelled areas, but that's fine as I see us as all part of a team. Titles like this thread do make me feel like we are very much at the bottom though.
