Divorce - how long now?

Hi everyone. So after a pretty horrific few years I finally plucked up the courage to file for divorce against my horrible ex-husband. I'm not using a solicitor and wondered if anyone out there has done it themselves via the government website and if yes how long did the whole thing take? We have separate bank accounts, don't own property and due to the fact he thinks he's 21 again (he's almost 40) he has no interest in looking after our children (other than for the 2 hours he has them once a week)

I completed the paperwork 12 days ago. Yesterday he was sent a copy and agreed to proceed with the divorce and now I'm waiting for the decree nisi. I was really surprised how quickly the first step was.In an ideal world I would love this to be sorted by the end of the year but is that getting my hopes up to much.

Hi mine took 4 months in totally with no dispute or filling of financial forms. So it does depend on how easy your ex is and if he reply to the emails ASAP

Ps good luck for your new life. Its the best decision I made.

Oh wow that is quick! Thank you so much. Its still a bit raw at the moment and he's moved on sooooo quickly which is embarrasing and upsetting. But it'll get easier- I know I'm better off without him 😀

Still get a clean break consent order so there’s no loose ends

As @millymollymoomoo says ensure you get that clean break order. Without it you could be in trouble years down the line.

Think mine was about 7 months in total from submitting nisi to getting absolute.
