Divorce/separation

Confused by CMS calculations

I'm in the process of separating from DC's father.

I've just used the CMS calculator & it says £250/m - this is based on his salary of 48K (having had a 60K salary prior to lockdown). And he wants to go 50/50.

I thought that based on 50-50, that no maintenance would be due, so why does the calculator show this?

I'm not counting on maintenance for anything, but can't understand the CMS calculator.

Could anyone explain why?

Different bits of the law.
CMS calculator is based on number of nights where child stays.
Provisions about CM being zero are based on neither parent being a non-resident parent, and should include things like day-time care not just covering half the nights.

Thanks - it just seemed a bit odd.

I'd like to go for a pattern of 1 night during the week, EOW & 1/2 school holidays but he wants 50-50.

I don't really care about the money but don't want 50-50 as he has mental health issues & is hardly engaging with them, plus I've always been the primary carer.

I think I will have a battle ahead & CM payments aren't the least of it.
