Divorce/separation

How bad is it?

Divorce I mean. Lots of posts where people talk about their relationship concerns & most advice is LTB.

So bearing that in mind for my current relationship how bad is divorce & single parenthood?

Especially if you're:
-40+
-unlikely to have another marriage/serious partner/more children
-currently earn a low wage
-don't have family childcare
-the marriage is unhealthy but not abusive
(I think a lot of posters fall into this category)

I’m almost 40 and separated, divorce not yet initiated. I hadn’t planned to meet anyone but met someone and fell madly in love. Never say never.

@Bathbedandbeyond how lovely! How have your DC dealt with that? And new partner dealt with your kids etc?

I’ve just got one DC, he doesn’t have any. My DC loves him. He’s a teacher and brilliant with her. We have mutual friends in common so that was reassuring too Smile

@Bathbedandbeyond he sounds great. A teacher sounds like the ideal partner!
I'm not someone who falls in love very often (was single for most of 20s) so that why I would anticipate not having another relationship any time soon.

Frankie, I’m the same. I definitely didn’t anticipate things working out the way they have, I can’t quite believe it Grin
