Divorce/separation

Pregnant, dumped and lonely

My partner left us just over 2 weeks ago to rekindle a romance with an ex from 20 years ago. It was unexpected - we had normal ups and downs of a long term relationship but it came as a surprise to me.

I am left 21 weeks pregnant and with a 2.5 year old. She keeps asking where daddy is. It's horrible and I feel deeply lonely.

How do I make myself feel better?

Hi @happiertomorrow, I'm really sorry to hear this. When I was 8 weeks pregnant my partner left, no contact for the rest of my pregnancy. I was devastated and just dragged myself through each day. I think making sure you have support from friends and family is the most important. Spend time with other people. Your wee girl will be ok. Just give her extra hugs and tell her how much you love her.
My ex eventually came back a long time later wanting to be a family and claiming it was a mistake. It was too late for me. In hindsight I was very unhappy with him and our relationship. Moving on from him was healthy for me.
Pm me if you need to talk ever. Thanks

To OP

Might not be the best time to raise this subject, but are you managing financially? Sound as though you are not married, but if partner who has walked away is father of the 2.5 year old and the unborn child he should be paying towards their costs.

Make sure you claim all your entitlements such as; Child Benefit, Child Tax Credit, Council Tax reduction for being the only adult in the home. You may qualify for child care costs for the 2.5 year old as well?

Someone who has left you while pregnant and a 2.5 year old after 20 years sounds like the sort you are better rid of anyway?

Good luck
