Husbands niece could be his daughter!

Have posted on relationship also After some advice! Apologies for the extremely long and confusing post! Will try and keep it easy to follow. Ive been with my husband for 12 years, (since we were 17 & 22), W heave been married coming up 6 years and have 2 children together. He has 1 brother and they are quite a close family. 2 years ago his brother found out his wife (our sister in law) had been having an affair and they separated. The affair was one of many over the years they were together and they had 3 children. Last year it came to light that the eldest child is not my brother in laws after all - he had known all along and agreed to raise the child as his own but it was kept secret from the family. Our ex sister in law is a truly horrible person. Since they have separated she has caused nothing but problems for him and their children despite moving on in her new relationship. She uses the children as weapons and only sees them when it suits her, he has them the majority of the time. She is always trying to cause drama and upset whenever things seem to start going smoothly for him. She was always trying to cause problems with people when they were together and took delight in causing arguments. She has always taken a dislike to me and my husband also, i always believed it was jealousy due to what we had as she always made snide remarks about us and our children. Anyway I have just discovered that her and my husband actually had sex several years ago! I found out as she tricked him into confessing it via a phone conversation and recorded it! I confronted him and he then told me everything. He claims he was doing some work at their house one day and she came on to him, he admits he was wrong to do this and claims that he stopped all contact with her straight away after, and that it never happened again. The problem is that she then got pregnant with her third child. He said she kept trying to contact him to carry it on but when he refused and then when he wouldn't reply to her messages she told him the child was his. I'm not sure if this was just out of spite or not but obviously there is a possibility. Fast forward and the child is now 3, she has been raised by my brother in law and nobody has ever suspected a thing, not even him. She is the image of my brother in laws other daughter which is why my husband says he has never had any doubts about being her father. Everyone always comments on how alike her and her sister are and how much she looks like my brother in law. In my head I am 80% sure she isn't my husbands child, but there is that small doubt and where they are related they could look similar anyway. Nobody is even aware that she could possibly be my husbands child. The ex sister in law got in contact with my husband recently for the first time since she divorced his brother and basically threatened to tell everyone unless he got his brother and parents to leave her alone and not contact her (after an argument between her and brother in law). This was the conversation she recorded without him knowing which she now has to use against him. She is threatening to send it to his brother. Things were really difficult in the days after I heard the recording, I told my husband if it wasn't for the children I would have walked straight away. We have since talked a lot and been very open with each other. I really feel like he will try and change to make things work. I know it will take time but I do love him and I can see how much this has devastated him also. I myself am from a broken family and grew up stuck in the middle of my parents and I never wanted that for my children. I honestly believe it was just the once and he has regretted it since, plus I know what she is like and I do think she purposely did it to have something to use against him. Don't get me wrong I hate what he did and it makes me feel sick thinking about it, I have told him exactly how I feel. However I do think if it was just the sex then we could work things out and possibly end up stronger, however if the child turns out to be his then I don't think I would be able to cope. I have spent 3 years being an auntie to this little girl, babysitting her, etc. Knowing that she is actually his child will change everything. It will be a constant reminder of what he did and I don't think I could bear to see her grow up right in front of me without it breaking my heart. She wouldn't be my children's cousin anymore, she would be their sister! He says he feels nothing for her other than an uncle/niece relationship and even if she turns out to be his child nothing will change and he doesn't want his brother finding out. I cannot carry on with my marriage, facing my brother in law every day and seeing this child with this secret sat on my shoulders, I have told my husband we need to know either way. If not just to try and save our marriage but also to know the truth. I want all secrets gone so if ex sister in law comes back to us trying to cause more trouble I can tell her I know everything. I confided in my in laws who have been amazing and we have sent off a dna test with samples of the child and my husband so we should find the results out any day. (We had to have extended testing due to them being brothers). I am terrified that the results will come back that he is her biological father, I have no idea how we can save our marriage if this is the case. If she turns out to be my brother in laws after all then I'm hoping we can put that to rest and try and work on the cheating. I'm just scared that won't be the case! Does anyone have any advice or has been in a similar situation?
