NRP - moving 20 miles away

Ex lives a few miles away.

I am resident parent. We have a CAO.

DS (8) has 60:40 (Mum/Dad) contact arrangement over a 2 weeks period, with the longest stretch being 3 nights at one place (an issue).

He wants to move 20 miles away, which will take him further from school (which is where I live), his local friends and clubs and any school events. It makes contact hand over hard (I won't have ex come to my home).

He had told me he was moving, but led me to believe it would be much nearer. I was happy with the move as his current (shared) house is not ideal.

If I felt I wanted to stop this move, as resident parent, could I?

No you can't stop this move.
20 miles is really not far.

Agree you cant stop his move. But why would you want to?
Why will it make hand over hard, it is only 20 miles away and as you say is better accommodation?

No, you can't stop this move. 20 miles is not far. You could however suggest that contact arrangements change, so still 60:40, but in just 2 blocks? e.g. on a 2 week period - with NRP Friday to Weds, then with RP from Weds until the following Friday. Ex would need to do drop offs to school etc. during his contact time.

Cross posted. Abuse against you? Are you worried about how to communicate over this issue?

Thank you, I have my answer. Forgive me for not wishing to go into more detail.
