I think this is it. I have known for a while now that I need to leave this controlling man and do what's best for me and my son. Ds is only 5months old and this is not the life I had planned.

It's so scary but you won't believe the sense of relief and freedom you'll feel once you've done it. I can't tell you it will be easy - I'm still rollercoastering my way through all the emotions 2 1/2 years after ending a 23 year relationship - but I can tell you it will be worth it.

You only have one chance at this life, do whatever you can to make it happy.

All the best and keep coming here for support when you need it. Oh, and don't be too proud to turn down support and help from anyone who offers it xx

That's good advice. Do you have more positive tips I'm in similer leaving after 10 years 5 young children he was at times controlling and I wasn't happy etc. Feel guilty on children and worried I'll regret the decision but I can't live with him and since I said I want a divorce he had at times behaved very nasty x

One other thing I'd say is to keep finding stuff you couldn't have done if you'd stayed together - mine started out with things like having the remote control, buying new bedding, not having to cook big meals, all small wins but they remind you you've done the right thing...
Good luck @Blossom5
