Outcome of Court proceedings for child residency after divorce

I'm interested to hear from people who have gone through the Court to seek sole residency for children following a divorce.
What were the reasons for a Court deeming that shared residency would not be in the children's interests i.e. why was residency awarded to one parent over the other?
FYI - my children are 9 and 14.
Thanks

The court will listen to the 14 year old and also pay some attention to the 9 year old. The courts aren’t interested in parents bitching about each other just what’s right for the kids and what the kids want. We now do 50/50 which means our daughter doesn’t have to choose and we each get to spend equal time with her. Always put them first
