Start using Mumsnet PremiumWhat can I take from the family home?
(3 Posts)It's best if you can agree .However if not then you will have to pay for replacement items which could then be ironed out in the final settlement.
Do you have access to money to buy a few items that you need? It's not unreasonable given you are also carer for your child.
Agreeing what you can take from the marital home needs to be discussed via solicitors if you cant agree with your ex.
So I'm moving out of the family home with my 18 month old. Married, but as house is in my husbands name and was bought before marriage it seems I will have to fight for a share. Have lawyers involved with fighting for interim support and shared access etc but I'm unsure if I can take much from the family home when I leave, and more lawyers fees for lowish value furniture etc is not what I need!
I can prove I bought a few limited items for the house, but husband is throwing a fit that I'm thinking to take anything more to enable me to look after my boy. Can I take some marital property from the family home? We are taking basic furniture for me and him and kitchen stuff and a tv!?! He is being really unreasonable about everything...
Help!
