Hi all,
I'm looking for advice re divorcing my ex.

Basically I left my ex over a year ago and have now settled with a wonderful man.

I want to get divorced, as I just hate having this tie to my ex, he is a true narcissistic mind-playing arse, and he loves using phrases like "your still my wife" as if he has ownership over me.

I have just given up my degree due to finances and now work on a 0 hours contract. Money won't be a big issue as I don't have any for him to claim, and he can keep his, I have no interest in it. But I want to protect myself against any future claims, as my nhs pension will be so want an order made saying that we keep what we have and that'll be it.
I'll be divorcing on grounds of unreasonable behaviour.
I can't afford a solicitor by any means, and I fully expect him to defend/contest but I have to try, for my sanitys sake.
Can anyone break down what I need to do, specifically regarding tying in the consent order.

Thank you!!

I used an online company, cheap and easy. They sorted it all out. I told them what I wanted and they typed it up officially and sent it to the courts.
If you're going for unreasonable behaviour from what I remember he will have to sign all the docs to agree to it, otherwise it's more complicated and costly. Good luck xx

Hi
If you contact Women's Aid they can refer you a link to complete your divorce online and have a solicitor check it for free.
Although it's best practice to share your draft petition with your husband before sending to court to be approved- if he is a narcisstic arse (which mine is too!) you do not have to send him docs beforehand but can send them straight to court who will then send him the petition.
Hope this helps- I did this but I am having to get a server to give him the petition in person as he won't acknowledge it by post.

Go on the government website, all the forms you need including applying for fee remission are on there along with the notes in how to fill them in.

It is very easy and I have done it myself, mine goes in front of the court next week.
