The hearing was today and I expect to get a letter in the next few days confirming it was granted. So, six weeks and one day until I can apply for the Absolute. How long does this take to go through does anyone know? I asked my solicitor and he said a few days. Is this right? It's been so slow to get to this point I can't believe it will go through so quickly.

Have your finances been agreed? If so, the next stage should be to file the ageeed order with the Court. If they haven't been agreed, don't file for the Absolute until they have.

Whilst you're still married you are his next of kin. The Absolute puts an end to that and any reference to the other spouse in a Will becomes invalid.

Summer I applied for the Nisi in January , so it's taken a good couple of months.
Moose we have agreed a financial settlement between ourselves but need to apply for a court date for it to be made official. My solicitor is going to apply for this now the Nisi has been granted.

Our financials took 3 weeks once sent to a judge to be approved, the absolute was applied for once confirmation of consent order was approved and this was applied for on the 23rd march, my solicitor recieved the absolute on the 30th march but it was dated the 28th. Must admit it made me very teary for about half a day, but happened to be making a birthday cake and had forgotten how nice cake mix tastes, i soon cheered up!

Is it possible if someone could clarify the auto message for me,
The Bury St Edmunds Divorce Centre admin team is currently processing petitions received on 24th March 2017 and all other work received on 22nd March 2017.

The Judiciary are currently processing applications for Decree Nisi which were received on 20th March 2017 and referred on 23rd March 2017. The answer to these applications will be processed by our admin team in approximately 14 days. If the application is granted a pronouncement date will be set for a further 4-6 weeks on from processing.

So is the admin team getting the nisi applications received on the 24th ready for a judge today, and then the judge is looking at the applications from the 20th march?
Does this mean that after the judge has seen the application and made a decision it takes a further 14 days? Thanks

Hi Bellflalala
Solicitors called them yesterday, they said NISI pronounced on 18th July, and they posted the letter same day, but we still haven't received anything. Read somewhere that it might take two weeks. I am getting so restless. Can you keep me posted when you get yours in the post! So will I

Not been married or divorced myself, but a family member of mine.....

The Nisi was issued and now EW wouldn’t agree to a financial settlement (1 year of negotiation). It went to court and 3 hearings later (taking 12 months) the judge dictated the financial agreement. So it was 2 years to absolute.

Incidentally - the judge gave her a far worse settlement than had been offered 18 months earlier!

Hope you're ok Hussain80.
I can't remember how long it took to come through as it was a long time ago now. I had to wait for the financial settlement to go to court before I could apply for the Absolute which was granted in August.

To NorthernSpirit

Same happened in my divorce. Ex wife got greedy and jumped from one solicitor to another hoping to get a better result. Result was that legal costs mounted and there was less left at the end no matter how the split was to be made. Ex's final settlement was way less than I had offered the year before. It had to be as a big chunk of money had gone on fees.

Somehow ex could not work out for herself that the more that went on fees the less left for ourselves
