Hi, I am looking into divorcing my husband, we were married for 1 year and separated 6 weeks ago. I have owned my house for 14 years and have 2 children living with me. He lived with me briefly for 3 months but did not contribute towards the mortgage or bills. i had to throw him out 6 weeks ago as he was a threat to my children. Is he entitled to any of the equity in my house if I divorce him? I have no savings and only the equity in the house, on the other hand he has substantial savings/ bonds/investments

Technically as you are married the house is classed as a joint asset even without his name on the mortgage, but that is also the same for his savings etc. I suggest you seek a free 30 min consultation with a solicitor as your marraige is only a short one so that could have an impact on division of assets.

You need to get proper advice on the whole situation, but on that limited story, I'd be inclining to the view that the court would be looking at trying to leave you as you were before the marriage. I would want the full picture, though.
