Separated but no where to go?

So my sons father and I have decided we're not working anymore after several attempts of trying to salvage anything we possibly could and make us work. Too much has gone on in our relationship that cannot be forgotten (by me) so it's time to move on.

The only issue is, he's just lost his job and I only work part time. We are really tight on money at the moment and there is no where for him to go, he couldn't afford anywhere yet until he has a new job and even then he'd need a few months of savings to get his own place. He doesn't want us to be over and I feel like he's in no rush to get out. We've been arguing one minute then acting as a normal happy family the next.

I can't stop stressing about the whole situation, I can't eat or sleep properly i just want to start moving forward with my life but feel so stuck at the moment.

Any advice?

I'm in a similar position. We're selling our house, fortunately we have a lot of equity in it.
