Online divorce companies

Just wondered has anybody used an online divorce company and would they recommend? Is it difficult to do it yourself via the govt website? It looks straightforward - tho it seems to be £550 and not the £410 I've seen quoted. Appreciate any advice, thanks.

£410 on line yourself. Easy if you have the evidence for unreasonable behaviour or agree on 2 years.

Do make sure you don't get decree absolute until you have a court sealed consent order on finances. Also check whether the fees you pay include the fees that are paid to the court in case they are on top of any fee quoted. Court fees have gone up hugely recently.

If you do it all yourself without solicitor it is £550 court costs. Used to be £410. Cost increased last year.

When did fee increase? My DP filed for his divorce in January and it was £410

March I think. So annoying!

That explains the increase. Thanks for the advice, all appreciated.

The divorce itself only deals with the legal dissolution of the marriage, it doesn't resolve financial matters or child arrangements. You would need to get a consent order to set out your financial agreement and make it legally binding to protect both parties. There are good online services that offer fixed price consent orders (ie Wikivorce).

The divorce application has three stages -petition (one form), the Decree Nisi (2 forms) and the Decree Absolute (one form). Things can become a little tricky if the respondent doesn't return the completed D10 (Acknowledgement of Service)
