Divorce/separation

Doing a very amicable DIY divorce. Forms sent off in may. Do I need to apply for a decree nisi?

Forms all went off. Stbxh signed and returned them. I got notification he'd done this.

I'm confused. I thought decree nisi would just follow from that, but it seems I might have to apply for it?

We have no solicitors involved to ask.

Thankyou

You have to apply for it. He would/should have returned the acknowledgment of service form to court and they would have sent you a copy together with the forms you need to complete in order to apply for DN. A 1 page form and (about) 5 or 6 page one. You no longer have to get an affidavit sworn before an independent solicitor, just sign the statement of truth and return to court. Is really easy and self explanatory

Ps, 6 weeks and 1 day after pronouncement of DN you can apply for DA but I'd recommend you sort finances before applying

Courts no longer automatically send out the next forms you need to complete. Would be worthwhile popping in to see them.

Thankyou. They didn't send the forms I needed to complete.

I have printed forms I need.... However one wants me to identify stbh signature in the statement of arrangements for the children. I filled it in and sent it, buts never got a signed copy sent to me. I can easily ask for it to be signed by stbxh but I don't believe this is what they're asking.

Finances are all sorted too.

Collaborate, must vary from court to court as my local one sent them out to me with copy of 'D'H's Ack of service form. This was about 2 months ago.

OP, don't understand what you mean. Are you saying the court did not send you a copy of the acknowledgement of service form signed by your H?

I did get a copy of the acknowledgement of service but nothing else.

I think I'll call them in the morning to confirm.
