Which glucose monitor?

I'm at high risk of gestational diabetes but was told no testing before 28 weeks.
I want to start keeping an eye now, so was ( I think "unofficially") advised me to get a monitor.
I'm so overwhelmed, trying to calculate what is best value when taking test strips, needles etc
Can anyone make any recommendations?

My son is type 1 since he was small. Have they told you how many times a day and when to test? ie before and after meals and before bed? Also which part to test on which finger? Have you asked the GP to give you a free meter? We alsways get one free. smile
