Am I Overthinking This?

I suspect my Mother has dementia but she is yet to see a consultant for a diagnosis.

This is probably going to sound silly but her heating went off for a couple of hours yesterday. It is back on but she can't get warm even in front of a heater. I have asked her if she can smell and taste food but she doesn't understand. The house isn't particularly cold but I went in after a walk outside and had my coat on.

I wouldn't be able to get her to do a covid test. Am I over thinking things? She hasn't properly been out for days and doesn't want to go for a walk as it's cold. She says she feels well overall and has very recently had her covid vaccine.

It sounds like a jab reaction to me. I'd be more.worried about not understanding the concept of being able to smell or taste. My mum has moderate dementia and would comprehend this. I assume you've asked her about her waterworks?

Hi. She had the vaccine yesterday and was cold before she had it but the heating had been off for a couple of hours. I couldn't get her to do a urine sample when the GP was checking her a few weeks ago.

She sometimes finds it hard to comprehend things, especially over the phone.

Hi is she more confused than normal? My DM was taken into hospital last week with confusion and suspected constipation. Turns out she has Covid and confusion/agitation is one of the most common symptoms in the elderly. She had her vaccine 5 days prior to testing positive.

I would keep a close eye on her if possible and contact her GP if you are concerned.

@flygirl767 She has been confused for some time. I did discuss this with her GP as I know confusion can be a symptom of covid. The GP wasn't too concerned. I think she said that it wouldn't be the only symptom if she had covid but thanks, I will keep an eye on her.

Sorry to revive this thread after nearly a year but my Gran recently showed the same symptoms as your Mother. Constipation and confusion. Did the confusion settle down?

@flygirl767 - I'm sorry you are worried about your gran.

My Mother was eventually diagnosed with Alzhiemer's. She still gets confused about things but she now has a carer and takes medication.

I would suggest that you take your Gran to see her GP as a first step.

@matrixx - sorry I mean't to tag you. My Mother didn't have covid. Are you worried your Gran has covid or just about the confusion? If it's about the confusion the GP would probably do a memory test.
