I tried the Cadbury factory in Keynsham sobernow but apparently they only do tours for groups like playgroups, schools. So you could maybe arrange it but not for this half term. Hey, I'm around during the day Weds onwards with no school pick up as ds is in London (watching Arsenal as I type) if you fancy a trip out. Will have a think and maybe a look in the Titchikers guide if I can find it.

What about Clarks world place in Street? Is there anything there? Will have a look, hang on

WideWebWitch Mon 14-Feb-05 20:01:58

Ah, no, that's just shops!

Flossam Mon 14-Feb-05 20:02:08

Great minds WWW! DP comes from there so that was where I thought of first.

Flossam Mon 14-Feb-05 20:03:11

And my step father worked at Clarks factory for many years as did my brother! DP's grandfather worked at Fry's!

Flossam Mon 14-Feb-05 20:03:47

3rd post in a row?!! Fry's was what cadbury's was in Keynsham.

Flossam Mon 14-Feb-05 20:04:39

Dosen't wookey hole caves have the paper making factory?

WideWebWitch Mon 14-Feb-05 20:04:41

Ah, what about Royal Worcester Factory tours? It's a bit of a way though isn't it? Will keep thinking.

WideWebWitch Mon 14-Feb-05 20:06:02

Flossam, my step sister took her children to the Bourneville tour and apparently it wasn't very good. But that Fry's place will accept official group tours so I reckon it could be arranged.

Flossam Mon 14-Feb-05 20:09:10

WWW, do you mean about Fry's still? If not wookey here is a page about the paper mill at wookey

WideWebWitch Mon 14-Feb-05 20:09:54

Thwe bourneville one was in Birmingham, the other one is the one in Keynsham which is Cadbury's now isn't it?

WideWebWitch Mon 14-Feb-05 20:10:25

Or there must be a cheese making place at Cheddar, SURELY? WIll look.

givenupforlent Mon 14-Feb-05 20:14:45

I know its not local to you but Cadbury World in Birmingham is very much worth a trip (plus loads of free choccy)

There used to be a great cheese-making place at Chewton Mendip but it closed a couple of years ago. Shame, the cafe was fab too. The paper mill at Wookey is quite good, and I bet www is right about Cheddar. I'll keep thinking....

Sobernow, yes it is but please don't feel obliged to shlep over to Bristol, honestly! There's some woman in personnel you have to talk to about tours of the Cadbury place and I can't remember their criteria but I would call in your official pre school committee member (iirc) capacity to be on the safe side.
