Calling all fellas, my DP has to organise a stag do, any ideas?

Apart from the obvious getting rat arsed and gawking at strippers. He's looking for something to do before all that.

Not a fella but in the past DP has done golf, clay pigeon shooting, deep sea fishing, casino, water skiing, snowboarding and beach before a stag do. Don't know if this helps.

Oooh plenty to think about there, thanks Sunshinemummy.

My dh has done a day at Aintree to watch the National, quad biking, and paintballing. I think there are a lot of companies now that specialise in putting together a whole package, so even if they are too expensive to use he could see what they have and steal their ideas

I would say not going abroad.

I dont know what his friends are like obviously, but inevitably not everyone can afford it and you waste loads of time and money travelling to airports etc.

The best ones are where expense is kept down somehow. Beyond that i dont know.

That's true. There is a ridiculous tendency for the stag do to become over-inflated and ambitious. Whatever happened to a few beers and a curry with your six best mates?

Last year my dp went to 2 stag parties, 1 went go karting, then out into Birmingham, and finsihed off in Spearment Rhino!! and the other was to charter a boat and to go fishing in Guernsey, and out on the island in the evening!

absolutely UD - not forgetting that after a stag do comes a wedding as well, which normally involves a night away and more expense.

Each to his own of course, but i've just found that spending more does not equal more fun, but probably will lead to more resentment from some, or people simply not being able to go.

I like the sound of the deep sea fishing idea from sunshinemummy

My dh and his mates went to watch a rugby match and then to the pub. They had a great time. I agree with an earlier poster - don't waste time in airports and loads of cash on flights, hotels etc. Stag (and hen) nights / weekends have got uber-competitive these days.

He's trying to keep the costs down as we're expecting our 1st baby in August. So i think weekends away will be a no no. Thanks for all your ideas. I've written a list for him and he can investigate the options.

Go Ape (over tree adventure).

Night out at the dog races (they usually have some great deals including entry and free drinks)

Lazer Quest (like indoor paintballing and chepaer)

The best stag do I went to was in the UK, we did quadbiking and pilot car racing in the day and in the evening the obligatory curry and booze up, followed by a punch up between the Groom and his two best men back at the hotel! All was sort of forgiven the next day and the wedding was fantastic. Though we cannot mention the Stag do ever again.. Additionally two of the guys woke up in the night and for some bizarre reason went to go to the toilet outside of their room in the car park and the room door shut on them. One of them had to run 50yards naked to the night warden to get a key back into his room! Sorry I'm getting all nostlgic now...

My fellar spent more money going to a stag night in newcastle... Races, Hotel, booze... petrol..
He went to poland on a budget airline and the booze was pence!!!

Much cheaper!

not sure about the area you live in but where im from the local football tem (3rd div) do a package deal where you get to watch the match from the special box (forgot what its called ) then meet the players in the bar then get a meal. im sure you get special prices in the bar as well.

Clay pigeon shooting, hovercraft racing, go-karting, quad biking, paint balling, archery. Depends where you are, how far you're willing to travel and what the lads are into

Edinburgh is a good bet.

I organised my DB's stag do through the Highland Stag Co. That was about 8 years ago when a guy called James Felstead ran it and he did us proud. Not too bothered about the mini 4x4s but the Honda Pilots (somewhere near Rosyth) were pant-wettingly fast and great fun!

We hired a big mini-bus in Edinburgh and as best man I drove everyone around and stayed sober while they descended into an early stupor...

The "Burgh" also has some jolly good nightlife and some very accommodating young ladies - one agreed to sit on my DB's lap for a bottle of beer!
