Does anyone else share my problem with this?

Ever since our baby boy was born, I have had my wife and in laws say that he looks like every member of their family. Constantly.

Do they not think he may look a bit like his dad or my side of the family? I just find it so frustrating and annoying.

I'm a mum, not a dad, but I always used to find it annoying that my in-laws constantly looked for resemblances between my babies and random members of their side of the family, ignoring me & my family completely.

I'm sure they're not doing it with any malice, it's just their clumsy way of recognising the baby as a member of the family. Irritating though, I agree.

I had the last laugh though, all the DC ended up looking much more like my side of the family than DH's Grin

Congrats on your baby boy, btw.

When was he born ? I also found this incredibly annoying when dd was born . All any of his family would talked about was how much she looked like all these relatives I hadn't even met . I found it quite bizarre .

She does look like her dad which is lovely but I had just had a baby and was extremely emotional and would've been nice if they could have toned it down a bit.

Try not to let it bother you , even though it's hard at the time . As your ds gets older it will stop except for odd throwaway comments.

Kids change so much in the first few years as well . Just remember he's just himself , a little dolly mixture of both your genes.

I agree, there may be a resemblance of her side, equally my side. I don't get involved in the conversation at all and just sit there letting them get on with it. My wife just doesn't pick up with what the matter is.....

He is 4 months old - thanks for asking.

Guess it will just be a continual thing of biting my lip and then coming on here to share my frustration! ????

They're just talking self serving rubbish anyway, all babies look like Winston Churchill.

Yes, every single part of our baby was deemed by MIL as being from her late DH, Mother, great aunt once removed etc...
It seemed to make her happy, so I left her to it. They are toddlers now and it seems to have stopped.
