Recommend me a bike

I need help!

My bike is a 30ish year old mountain bike and it’s finally getting to the end of its life.

I mainly atm use a bike regularly on a turbo for spin workouts inside at home but would also be using it for cycling on the road and occasionally a little off track. Want decent gears but don’t want to buy a top of the range bike or anything hugely expensive. Assuming a hybrid bike would be best or else a mountain bike (but I get frustrated when riding on roads and my mountain bike is so slow).

Any brands/bikes anyone could recommend? I just start looking and get overwhelmed and confused.

Definitely a hybrid. Best bet if you don't want to spend loads is a big brand bike like Specialised or Trek. I have an older version of this Specialised which is great, does trails, canal paths etc but also pretty speedy on the roads.

What about the local bikeshop? Near my apartment is a little known bike shop. I’ve gone in there sometimes to ask for advice and look at the bikes available. What do you plan on using the bike for? When will you be using it?

Developing a good relationship with a LBS can save money in the long run, especially if like me you're not good at servicing bikes yourself Blush

Our LBS services bikes you bought from them for free (just pay for any parts required).

If you're in one of those countries where Decathlon is, I find their bikes are pretty good value.

I agree with the comments about the local bike shop. Always best to build a positive relationship and buy from them. Especially if you have one that is convenient to you.
