Alternative to Isla

Dd (5) is a newish cyclist. I'd love to buy her an Isla bike however the new ones are out of the question. I'm a member of the Islabikes group on FB, however nothing suitable has come up in our area. She's 116cm tall with an inside leg of 51cm. Does anyone have any alternative lightframed bike reccomendations? I'm loathed to just go along to Halfords and let her pick as their helmet advice was terrible. My budget is £150 and her preference is for a blue framed bike. With Thanks.

Frog bikes. 3 kids and we've had both islas and frogs. Just depending what size fitted the child best at the time. Frogs are slightly cheaper and just as good. Both great lightweight child sized bikes.

Both also keep their value well. If you buy a 2nd hand one, and look after it well, you should be able to sell it for close to what you paid for it.

Definitely worth investing in, then sell it to fund the next one.

There is also a frog pre-owned group on Facebook worth following.

Thanks for the tip xyzandabc. I've had a look on the Frog website and DD seems to be 1cm off the minimum size for a 52 so I shall keep an eye out for one of those.

Any other suggestions welcome Smile

What about a 2nd hand ridgeback?

I think at that age it's all about getting confidence on 2 wheels, going on different terrain. I know lots of people buy expensive bikes but a 2nd hand light bike would probably be fine.

My dd is riding a 20in but at 12 is too big for it. Have decided to get her a 24in & they maybe a new small adults next year.
