Toddler/9 month old combo

I was wondering if anyone could give me a wee bit of advice about cycling with a toddler and a 9 month old.

Toddler is 2.2, and currently has a rear mounted seat on my DHs bike. Baby is 9 months old and I was looking in to getting a weeride for my bike, but google has thrown a spanner in the works with tales of rattled brains and falling bikes. But apparently trailers can rattle a babies brain too.

Does anyone know which option is best? A weeride for the 9 month old or a trailer for both?

Most things seem to be suggested for over 1 year.

I don't think I've seen anything targeted for such a young child. I'm not sure if there is a medical reason for that.
I have seen a dad with one of those big carriers on his back with a baby in, but I'm trying to remember how old the baby was when he started bringing the baby to nursery like that. He could of been over 1. The mum didn't like it, the baby getting bounced around, but dad had no other means of transport.

You can get special inserts for babies in trailers which allow you to use them from earlier than 9 months. I used a trailer without an insert most days from when DC2 was sitting, which was before 9 months obviously - I can't swear he doesn't have a rattled brain Shock now he's nearly 10 (years), but I don't think so :o Certainly he enjoyed riding in the trailer unlike DC3 who hated it so much I gave up on it with him-

Unless you ride like a mad thing the baby won't be rattled more in a good trailer than a buggy, and I can say from experience that even if you fall off your bike the trailer stays safely standing Blush

Don't attach the baby to your body in a carrier though - if you fall off then the baby will be badly hurt!

There are infant slings, which your baby is already too old for, and baby supports for 6-18 month olds. Obviously worth looking for things second hand!

Thank you so much for your replies. I've gone for a bike seat to start with and I'm going to keep an eye on eBay for a cheap trailer.
