Cycling

Buying an electric bike was the best thing I have done for a very long time!

Today I rode 12 miles, yesterday over 20 in total since I got it about 100 miles

I love it - it gves me so much freedom (disability) and power - I don't need to take the car everywhere or depend on other people so much (panniers for shopping etc)

It's just fab!

That's brilliant, I'd like to try one but I'm still a bit scared of cycling in heavy urban traffic where I live.

We are trying to move to a town with good bike tracks - but it's tricky

We were in Cambridge last week & that was SO amazing!! We felt so safe

I have been on a bike once (in the last 20 yrs) for about 3 minutes on holiday in egypt

I have Fibromyalgia, CFS & a lot of pain - finally getting my meds organised & I feel much better so DH bought me it

I call it Flash (aarrgghhh! like the song) & it's made by Whoosh

Brilliant!
Your last thread when you were buying it inspired me, so I've test ridden an electric Pendleton and will be getting it when my cycle to work voucher comes through. Can't wait - have started new job with longer hours and an electric bike will actually be quicker than bus or car to get home.

If it's not too rude may I please ask how much it cost?

Report
katymac · 19/05/2017 21:50

here I collected it so didn't pay for delivery

I am glad Rookie - do you live somewhere with good paths?

Hi katymac it will be road based cycling but there are a few cycle lanes and I'm used to it- at least an electric bike means I can push off super fast at traffic lights.

I still wobble starting as the throttle doesn't kick in straight away but I'm doing ok

& I only need to put as much effort in as I can - on tired days I just use the motor

Congratulations op, happy riding!

I was a bit on the fence about ebikes but am increasingly seeing their value for people with health conditions and for encouraging people to commute. I think in the next decade or so they'll be a common sight during the rush hour. I certainly hope so.

Well done OP. I love the idea of this for commuting. Unfortunately the last three miles of my commute just doesn't look like it could be safely done and can't justify one otherwise.

Is it really £249? That seems really reasonable!

Report
Lucked · 20/05/2017 22:07

It's £799, a spare battery is £249

MrsJamin · 20/05/2017 22:48

Ohhhh that seems more like it. It's good looking.

If it is anything like the car industry, battery prices should fall in the next few years so by the time the battery needs replacing it may well be cheaper than that.

That looks lovely but

"small riders (5'4-5'6) should let us know so we can fit a lower saddle post"

I will have to grow a few inches before I can be classed as a small rider in their eyes!

I consider myself small (i have a tall family bother 6'4", mum 5'10" etc) MsJuniper and went straight for their 'Petite' well it was very petite & my knees hit the handle bars!!

That sounds good about the battery!

Where I live now I'd have to drive about 5 mile to find a road I could rid on hence moving!

I love mine. All the enjoyment of being on a bike, but all the hills seem half as steep.
