Contents insurer recommendations without limits for bikes

I need to arrange some house contents insurance and would like to include our bikes. Our current insurer (AXA) won't cover anything worth more than £750 or £1000 under its bike extension. I can't remember which. I gather that AXA can under some of their other schemes, just not the one we are on.

Basically our expensive bikes aren't even covered locked up at home under out current policy and I can't pay to include them.

Someone has suggested Aviva so I will try them but if you have your bikes insured away from home under your household policy without a value limit can you let me know who you insure with?

Thanks, I don't want a bike specific policy - too expensive as we have four high value bikes and when I got a quote before, just for three out of four (as the policy couldn't accommodate four apparently) it was £500 pa!

Try Hiscox - they have unlimited cover at home, up to £3500 per bike away.
DH used to work for them, and their service was amazing

Thanks CMOT, that is great. I have just done an online quote and it is really reasonable including valuables and every extension I currently have. Their individual limit even accommodates the tandem which is fantastic.

I used to work 'with' Hiscox in a former career collected Chartered Insurer status along the way now I just pay the renewal fees.

Have a look at Pedalcover as well, they are underwritten by AXA but very similar to the "old style" m&s policy.

I found very good insurance from OneCall insurance (found via CompareTheMarket of all places) which covered all our bikes (including ds' very expensive one) as well as contents and buildings for less than the extra that LV= (Liverpool Victoria) wanted to charge for including just 3 of the bikes Shock

I rang LV and they didn't even try to match the quote.

I went with Hiscox - good cover, decent policy wording, all valuables covered as I wanted to.

I am moving house in a couple of weeks and the removal firm wanted £322 for £60k's worth of cover.

I phoned Hiscox and started the cover at my current address a few days before the move, they cover the transit risk (at my existing level of cover) if I start it from the address my contents are moving from - cost me £25.

They will cover bikes in excess of £3.5k, you just need to phone them up.
