I used to call them daps when I was a child growing up in Somerset. Now I'm in Yorkshire married to a Lancastrian, and call them pumps.

North West - we called them pumps at my primary school, but DH who went to a PS about 3/4 mile away called them plimsolls or daps.

I only ever heard him call them daps after he joined the RAF though - I think that's what they got called at Basic Training in 1994/95

Plimsolls - born York, raised in Dorset. Not sure whether my parents called them plimsolls before we moved though - I can't remember!

These were unknown, growing up in Australia.

I now live in Greater London and know them as plimsolls.

'Gutties pronounced guh-ies. Glasgow.'

That probably stems from gutta percha, which is a variety of tree that produces latex rubber. So a gutty is a rubber-soled gym shoe.
