Parties! All the young characters trying to sound cool! David at a Karaoke bar!

The horror of it!!!

MaryAnnSingleton Fri 22-Aug-08 19:14:18

is it Shula and Kenton's birthday party yet ? have missed a couple of weeks, or is it Alan and Usha's nuptuals ?

MaryAnnSingleton Fri 22-Aug-08 19:14:46

hi ipanema btw !

moodlumthehoodlum Fri 22-Aug-08 19:26:00

Kenton & Shula's bday has passed w/o incident at the party.

Alan's stag night last night. v embarrassing.

MaryAnnSingleton Fri 22-Aug-08 20:16:15

great ! will listen to the omnibus on Sunday

ipanemagirl Fri 22-Aug-08 21:02:02

Mary Anne don't do it! It's REALLY scary! Snooty Alice getting drunk yuck yuck yuck.
Lovely to hear from you. Are you well???
I fortunately missed most of the Horror of the Kenton and Shula 80s party but unfortunately listened enough to hear that David was going as Jimmy Saville and lots of really vomit making speeches from ROOOOOOTh about what she might wear all festooned by

MIRTHLESS LAUGHTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The great crime of the ARchers imho!!!

ipanemagirl Fri 22-Aug-08 21:04:23

Actually most of the horror has been topped by the toe curling bellringing competition episode which was AWFUL!!!!!

No, I think Alan's stagnight was worse than that on reflection. I wanted to weep when I heard it!

THE RURAL DEAN!!! It;s not funny! Stop feigning hilarity you poor beleagured actors! Someone needs to get rid of some of the writers.....

LittleBella Fri 22-Aug-08 21:06:59

LOL at a thread about the Archers being in the Culture Vulture section
What happened to Matt's adoption storyline?

MaryAnnSingleton Fri 22-Aug-08 21:08:37

oh I must listen to it ! horrid Alice, she was drunkenly stringing poor Christophurrr along last time I listened.
Am ok ipanema - poor dh's dad died this week,so we are in shock..Archers might be very cheering !

MaryAnnSingleton Fri 22-Aug-08 21:09:41

oh yes,Matt storyline..what's going on there ?
ipanema - how is your expectancy going ?

ipanemagirl Fri 22-Aug-08 22:22:00

MaryAnn, I'm sorry to hear that, in such circs then listening to the Archers may divert. How are you both doing? There's no preparation for that kind of loss is there? Big hugs to you.

My expectancy is ludicrously imminent for someone who is not quite accepting that it is about to happen.... shock
I'm due on Sept 14... too scary, I need to go and listen to my hypnobirth cd before it's too late.....

But I made a fruit cake today which is almost certainly a sign of something dontyouthink?

matt adoption storyline, he may go and search out his birth mother, Lilian sounding caring is pretty revolting but not a bad plotline.

LittleBella I don't know why I put this thread in culture vultures.... I posted in a hurry and couldn't think where else it could go! Any ideas? I like to post about the Archers every now and then....!

MaryAnnSingleton Fri 22-Aug-08 22:38:27

thank you ipanema - we're doing ok really..boys are bearing up. How exciting about imminent arrival - have it on 17th, that's my bday grin
Fruit cake baking sounds like a nesting thing to me !!
Lillian just makes me cringe anyway !!

LittleBella Fri 22-Aug-08 22:40:04

This is the problem, archers is unique. It doesn't really go in Telly addicts because it's not telly... we should have an"anti-culture" section. or maybe Soaps

MaryAnnSingleton Fri 22-Aug-08 23:05:17

or an Archers topic even !

ipanemagirl Sat 23-Aug-08 00:44:38

oh why oh why am I still up in my condition?
Very stupid of me!
Where to put an Archers thread is a very good question.
Chat is too vague
Am I Being Unreasonable is just to busy a thread, the odd Archers listener would get lost in there.
I think it has to go here until mumsnet makes a Rural Fiction thread or a audio soap one?
I'll cross my legs for the 17th MAS!!! But I think this one might be wanting to make an early entrance....

wish I was more ready!

MaryAnnSingleton Sat 23-Aug-08 08:38:51

grin ! be sure to let us know the moment things get started !

FiveGoMadInDorset Sat 23-Aug-08 08:41:43

We need a radio topic to go along with Telly Addicts, and no more William for 6 months, crack open the champers.

LittleBella Sat 23-Aug-08 08:43:15

I feel more relieved than Ed, that William's gone.

Just dreading him coming back though. grin

WhatSheSaid Sat 23-Aug-08 08:53:19

HOpefully William's 6 months will be extended and we won't have to hear his whingy moany voice ever again. We can but hope. The way poor old Clarrie was going on, you'd think it was the other side of the world he was off to, not Gloucestershire.

Great stag night for Alan. All dressing up as vicars! Karaoke! Neil getting hilariously drunk! Forced hilarity all round.

Alice is obviously going to end up with Christopher, she keeps going on about how it's not going to happen

MaryAnnSingleton Sat 23-Aug-08 08:58:20

Christophurrrr sounds quite normal and refreshing ! And echo the sentiments about William - miserable whingy sod
Radio topic would be excellent idea !

ipanemagirl Sat 23-Aug-08 10:49:53

MAS I will keep you posted! I can't believe it's really going to happen! Thanks.

Oh I agree William should be banished for good, although I have a friend who is furious on his behalf at his treatment by Ed and that strumpet - is she Emma? I forget their names... but if they's had another gamekeeper knock himself off it would've been too much wouldn't it?

Yes Christopher will probably give up on the snooty little Madam and then go out with someone else and it will hit her like a thunderbolt and she'll see the light, hope he tells her to sling her hook.

Yes a radio thread would be a very fine thing.

On that thread I could complain about
The Toksvig
And the really irritating high nasal voice of the guy who presents Money Box LIve.... I hate is so much. I have to run across the room and switch it off like I do when Go For It ocmes on. Also Winifrid Robinson.... yuck...

But I do love Radio 4, it is on most of the time............

ipanemagirl Sat 23-Aug-08 10:50:32

"They's had?" hmm

charitas Sat 23-Aug-08 12:01:14

WE could just have awhole topiconwhy the news quiz is not funny now the Toksvig is in charge and the demise of the afternoon play now it is only45 minutes. I have to listen to the old ones on radio7

Threadwworm Sat 23-Aug-08 12:38:24

I like Sandy Toksvig. She is very funny.

We do need a radio topic. But just for now, Chicken Keepers might do for The Archers.

Agree it is very funny that all in The Archers seem to think that Gloucestershire is somewhere past the point where you fall of the edge of the planet.

In reality I think it must only be about 30 miles from where Ambridge must be.
